This is Disturbing...

...and might make me a horrible person to actually get a chuckle out of it.

Taken from Azulfi's post in ReadnRock if you haven't read it, this is not a post for those easily offended. Stop reading and indulge your sights here if you do ( Something for the ladies! ).

If you decide to read and be mad anyway, let me wear a helmet and tell you I didn't write this.

The general ( and hilariously ignorant ) lifestyle comparation between Asian and Western people by Azulfi :

Blue Picture = Western People
Red Picture = Asian People

Case No. 1 - Expressing Opinions

Why Asian and Western People are Different

Case No. 2 - Way Of Life

Why Asian and Western People are Different

Case No. 3 - Punctuality

Why Asian and Western People are Different

Case No. 4 - Contacts

Why Asian and Western People are Different

Case No. 5 - When waiting in a Queue

Why Asian and Western People are Different

Case No. 6 - Daily Life

Why Asian and Western People are Different

I may have to say although I laughed I feel pretty punched especially on punctuality, expressing opinions, contacts and way of life. That's so...Jakarta.

More especially the punctuality.

I may be different because I'm pretty punctual but for most people here meeting at 1 PM might mean people will start coming around 2. It always happens everywhere I go. I wonder what's up with that.

What do you think? Overly stereotypical comparisons or are there some senses of truth in them?

In cases 1, 3 and 4, Irish people would more resemble the red side, methinks...

    Especially 3.

Here, when it says "7pm" printed, clearly, in bold, on a party invite... it is understood to mean "Don't DARE show up before 8."

When you're 10 minutes late for anything, you're probably earlier than anyone else.

And whenever we go to Germany...it's a hell of a culture shock...

    LOL that's funny!!

My favorite was definitely the que, lol.
As a Westerner who grew up in Asia, I have a pretty good perspective on both sides. I myself have a mix of both characteristics, also depending on where I am. So...yes, I'd have to say they're overly stereotypical. But stereotypes became stereotypes because there's some level of truth to them.
So yes: I think they're both stereotypical and truthful. :)

hahah! I love it, Andhari! great find.

It's not all that offensive either. Their way of life is Community, it's rad to have that big a network, and how much better is it to have your best friend be your grandson rather than a dog?

    Great find!

  1. Katy's right - stereotypes always have a grain (either big or small) of the truth.
That makes me laugh - especially the waiting in line part...depending where you are in the "west" you can add a dot that cuts in front of everybody else with a total attitude. At least in my little corner of the western world that drives me crazy! it's so rude!

I'm kinda confused. should we be ashamed or not? lol. but how could he portrayed that very accurate? thats so us.. except pucntuality.. i always hate lateness.

  1. Maybe my family is secretly Asian (and I mean secretly 'cause we all redheads or blue-eyed LOL), 'cause they ain't never on time.

Cubans are the same way. This is kinda funny...just a bit of fun!

    That's hilarious.

I loved the queue one. So often I'll be waiting to get in to somewhere and thinking "Why can't we have a bit of order here instead of swarming through the door in such a chaotic fashion?"

Thanks for sharing that! It's only 8am and I've had a good laugh today.

Idk about the stereotypes, I’m definitely one of those people who goes around in circles when I express opinions. Ugh.
I love these! I was giggling at my desk.

AND OH. MY. GOD. Girl, why did you send me to a beautiful man website? Shit. I want one of each wrapped up and on my doorstep to adore me. Muwahahaha!

I am actually a huge lover of sterotypes and I love it even more when people conform (or even better over-conform) to them!!!
Personally I'd hate to be sterotyped though....hmm, have I just stereotyped myself??

  1. Mwuahaha... now, tell me how should I feel? lol. Okay, the waiting in a queue one, is kinda right (okay, so right), hey, it depends where, though, lol. In a bank that doesn't happen!

And the punctuality, hahaha... what a generalization, I am like you, I always am the one who's waiting, humm... and even though I'm trying to be late, the other will be even more late! lmfao!

FLOL. I'm laughing at the Expressing Opinions! There is obviously some truth in it! But stereotypes aren't meant to be taken too seriously, are they. Hahaha.

    CRACKUP! Thanks for sharing.

I totally agree with you about the punctuality, I kinda feel offended! I don't think I'm that bad. OTOH, I was at my friend's 21st last night. I got there almost 10 min early. She was 40 mins late. She's never on time...but I kind of expected a little better to her own birthday! So frustrating.

Funny and has a lot of truth in it. I'm white but i lived in Asia ^^ Yes yes, true true... :)

  1. Amy said...:

I love it! And it's so true :P People here always joke about 'Malaysian time'. If you're late, they'll teasingly ask if you're running on Malaysian time.

  1. LiLu said...:

I don't know enough to say if they're true, but every stereotype has a GRAIN of truth to it...

  1. tiff said...:

    HAHAHAHA!

All I can say is, too true, man, too true (for each and every one of them).

  1. Carissa said...:

well, I am not very direct in expressing my opinions and I am definitely NOT punctual! I am so bad. I am ALWAYS running late for something. my friends and boyfriend always joke about it and my bestie knows that if I say I will be there in 10 minutes, that's more like 20. eek, so bad I know!

  1. My favorite was the contacts one. Cracked me up.

  1. i think it is so true..... after living in asian n western countries, i have to agree with those. esp the queuing and contacts lol.

I don't know anything about Asia, as I've never been, but I think it could definitely show some differences between Canada and the USA.

I'm not Asian at all, and that red punctuality box defines me. I'm late for EVERYTHING!
