So I was reading this hilarious post by one of everyone's favorite blogger, Narm, and he was talking about blogging for two years already. Now since I didn't really recall when I blogged for the first time, I looked back to the oldest entry and the date was August 9th 2007.
Holy shiz, I've officially blogged for two years too! It's been two years and 544 posts since I decided to be narcissistic and put my scarily random thoughts in writing for everyone to read. It's a big deal, right? I feel like doing something : drinking my weight in tequila boom boom*, dancing in front of Plaza Indonesia's fountain ( one of the city's signature land mark ), feed hungry models, or I don't know...adopt a baby?
By baby I mean baby poodle, I'm not ready for constant cries and smelly diapers just yet.
Anyway, to make it easier I decide to skip all those insanely brilliant ideas altogether and just tell you what I've learned so far in the past two years of blogging. Why? Because I'm wise like Jedi, that's why. Call me Yoda ** and here are some things that I can share about the subject :
1. Don't follow blogging rules too much
Just like any rules, they do suck and are capable to make you crazy. They forbid you to blog more than once a day? They told you to not blog on certain topics so much? well, tell the rule makers to plant one on your bottom ( see how polite I am by using these words instead of kiss my ass? )
2. Your blog = your rules = post whatever you want
I know as you get more readers you feel more hesitant before blogging about something, or there may be times when you have something in your mind but you really can't write about it for fearing people's responses. I feel this way from time to time but in the end I just be like "fukkit" and post whatever I want. You blog for yourself, it's your outlet, write what you want. People can close the window if they don't like it, no?
3. Some people are easily offended / There will always be haters
This real world's rule is also applied in the blogosphere, whatever you do, you can't please everyone. Haters will always exist even for the nicest and coolest bloggers. There's no guarantee that you wont open your blog and find a nasty comment from other bloggers / lousy anonymous commenters. Don't let it bring you down, and if you don't feel that there's anything wrong with what you write, don't apologize. It may sound selfish but like I said at #2, it's your freakin' blog. I don't believe that just because you have a public blog, it means people can write strong comments. Nope, I don't think so. My blog, my rules, if you can't behave like a decent human being in voicing your opinion then get the eff out. Simple.
4. When you feel overwhelmed, take a break
Because when you don't, you'll stop having fun and see it as a pressure. When you see it as a pressure, you're more likely to quit. This happened too many times and I really don't want to lose any more great blogs to read. So please lovelies, when you start stressing over blog, take a quick break. Take a longer break if necessary to think clearly before you click that Delete Blog button.
5. Try not to be overly sensitive
It's a point that I continue to fail to remember. I get sensitive, a lot. When I blog about something so passionately and see the responses aren't so great? I get sensitive. When I comment a lot at someone's blog but keep being ignored? I get sensitive. When I read someone's post bashing on things I like ( Seriously, happens a lot. Especially since I like Twilight and glittery vampires ) , I get sensitive. And you're not gonna like me when I'm sensitive, I write angry things in twitter and facebook status like an emo 12th years old. I still try to learn how to cope with it better and remind myself of #1, #2, #3, and #4.
6. Always, ALWAYS respect other bloggers
This can easily be achieved by :
- Try commenting back every time someone, old or new, comments you. Or at least write them back to say thank you. You're not an effin celebrity, no matter how many hits you get daily. Pay back those attentions and do not be a douche by ignoring them. Your blog doesn't feed or help them survive in the world, they can easily delete it off their reader if they think you're unpleasant somehow.
- Not leaving hate or mean comments at other people's blogs. You're not gonna like it when it happens to you. No matter how straight forward you are, there's always a good way to say what's in your mind, right?
- Giving credits to other bloggers whenever they help you with something, or even just inspire you for a post. Simple kind gestures will get you everywhere, really. Especially since bloggers are tend to be nicer than a lot of people you may have or will meet in real life.

* You don't know tequila boom-boom? It's this tequila based cocktail that tastes sweet and a bit like Sprite but give you a kick and funny walk. Try it!
** I wonder if Yoda can get laid.

Happy 2nd bloggiversary! I'm coming up to 1 year soon :)
I love all the points you made. Very, very true. Especially about respecting other bloggers.
Have a great weekend!
