Casual MMM

So everybody noticed the craze about the last H&M collab with Maison Martin Margiela (if you didn't, you probably are blind or live on a deserted island). Who didn't know MMM, got to know it, who didn't love it, got to love it, that's how 90% of these collabs work, that's how smart marketing works
As I mentioned on my blog page and on twitter, I'm kind of tired of all these collaborations, they became so frequent, the new has worn off. If the collection is not in stores yet, the build up for the release is huge. When the collection is over, everybody forgets about it. After a month a lot of the pieces, that seemed so great when you just got your hands on them, end up on ebay. For, at least, twice as much.
I don't say these designer collaborations are bad, but too much is too much. Young people, who crave to belong to the fashion elite, close their eyes to the malfunctions, such as noticeable difference in quality.
Also, the prices for pieces from an H&M collab are only getting higher and higher each time. It all ended for me when they started to queue up at 5 and 6am to be the first in line. It's still H&M, people!
If I'm really interested, I go and get a look, later that day, to see if some of the pieces are still there.

So far, in my closet are pieces from the earlier collaborations with Roberto Cavalli and Comme des Garçons, a necklace from Lanvin which I bought later and accessories from Anna Dello Russo. Pretty modest, if you ask me. I'd never forgive myself for not buying that red tulle dress from the Lanvin collab, especially as they were on sale afterwards. But life goes on and I hope my wardrobe will expand with some real designer pieces in the future. Because you still rather have the real deal, no? I, certainly, do.

Well, with the latest MMM collab, I decided to pull my Margiela dress out of the closet. This dress is one of my most treasured pieces, found some years ago on ebay, for a soft price. It's the perfect, warm maxi dress, which at first sight looks plain, but as with all MMM pieces, it's all in the details. The upper part of the dress is assymmetrical. It's perfect for a special occasion, with some extra accessories, or just as a plain maxi for a casual, but classy look. The dress already shows some signs of wear, it's probably from the late 90's, but that's just what makes it so special. This dress has a life, a history and was made when dear Martin Margiela was still the head of his label.

Margiela has always been one of my favorite designers and I wanted his clear wedge boots for forever, unfortunately, I still don't own a pair. Le sigh*

Gold Digger

Wrong is the new 'right'. The more gold, the better. I never shied away from a bit of opulence. I love sequins and I learned to love gold. It's better to be overdressed, than undressed, in my eyes. I like it bold and I am not afraid to show it. I like girls like Rihanna, Xtina and MIA, who are not afraid to speak their minds and not scared of their sexuality. People will always gossip, that's in their ugly nature. I learned to not care, or not a lot at least. A person with a dirty tong only proves to be the fool!

So, a bit more about the look. Recently I received a mail from VintageStore.nl for a collaboration. I could chose an item from the site to style it in my personal way. I do love vintage, so I was pretty excited. In the end my eye fell on this 80's bomberjack. I wanted one for a while, but haven't found one that was special enough. Well, this one is pretty special, I tell ya! I fell in love with it's key print. Keys are the shit!
I removed the shoulder pads first, though. They did love their shoulder pads back in the 80's :)
It was a match made in heaven between the bomberjack and my sequined skirt, which is actually a top. That's how an outfit fell in it's place. Totally not weird that I was wearing it on a Sunday morning, just because. Actually it's a perfect party outfit, just need a party to go to first.

So if you love vintage treasures, check out VintageStore.nl for some sweet deals. I especially love their handbag selection. You never know what treasure you'll find next!

Beware, duck face alert!

I really don't know what I was mimicking here.

Behold, THE KEYS!

Ok, bye!

My baby likes to play!

They say girl just wanna have fun and in my opinion we don't get enough time to play. I, for example, am stuck at home behind my laptop, typing all day long. Sore muscles and headache as a result, not much fun if you ask me. So when the weekend started, I decided to go full force on that outfit of mine. Every excuse to leave the house is reason enough to dress up these days. The weather was ok'ish, so pulled my new playsuit on. Don't you just love that word, PLAYSUIT?! The word alone makes me feel all giddy. I was on the lookout for a playsuit for years, but Belgium never got the trend, I'm not surprised. But just when I least expected it, I found one, in my home town at an outlet store. I felt in love immediately, not only is the model perfect, but it has an open back and a guitar print. This is probably the closest that I'll get to guitar playing, well that and my boyfriend the guitar player :) I'm really not gifted in that area, my double jointed fingers can't even form chords properly. Back to the point now, I was happy to score this Denny Rose playsuit for a sweet 'throw away' price. I also got a Moschino Cheap & Chic top.
People who read my blog probably figured out that I'm not afraid to show some leg. I like to enjoy my youth while I have it, you know! So I went all the way, the print, the bows, the hair, ... to create this retro look. I like how 60's it turned out to be! In my heart I'm a gogo girl all the way!

These beautiful mary jane shoes were waiting in my closet a few years to be worn. I'm glad I rediscovered them again!

Too cool for school

And finally, I'm back from my, what it seemed, blogging break.
As I previously told I went on vacation to Rodos, a wonderful Greek island very close to Turkish coast.
The pictures from the trip are yet to come.
I came back tanned, but, unfortunately to bad weather. Was ill and busy.
But here I am!

It seemed like time for a new outfit. And here it is.
I decided to return, with what, I guess, must be one of my signature looks through the few past years: The School Girl Look. My fascination with school uniforms began at an early age of seven. From that age till I was 13 I wore a black and white uniform at my school. We could choose between any white blouse or sweater and a black skirt, so it was still fun.
I moved to Belgium where I never had to wear a school uniform again, but my love always remained. An early age fetish that's there to stay. I don't think I'm not going to be able to pull that look off when I hit my thirties, but that gives me still a lot of years to play.

I was immediately in love with that Zara blouse when I saw it hit the stores. Unfortunately it sold out pretty fast. Great was my relieve when I found it in the sales. It has everything I love, green and stripes! I don't have to tell you by what collection it was inspired and I decided to add some orange nails to add that extra reference ;)
This preppy, sporty college outfit was entirely bought during the sales. Budget shopping wise! (Also the one from my previous post)

Graslei Ghent. I'm here so often that I'm practically used to all the beauty we live around.

Rock'n'Roll is how we do it

The second challenge of Project Blogway was Rock Chick was another subject that's really close to my heart.
I don't claim to be a rock chick or any other type of girl for that matter, but still it's another image that suits me well. I didn't have to look long for my outfit. I could've made a dozen of different ones for this theme with the clothes for my wardrobe. But I wanted to use my "Balmains" again. I'm not for knock off designs, but couldn't just let to buy these beauties. I got them on ebay and I must say they look pretty good!
The special accessory I was talking about in my previous PB post is one of my boyfriends guitars.
Unlike me he actually plays on it.
