DIY Christmas Wreath

While I don't study anymore, but enjoy a sort of vacation for the moment, I finally have time to make more stuff. I love making stuff, clothes, accessories, decorations, I love it all! So sometimes I actually use that time to make something. With Christmas coming up, I decided to make a wreath. I got to the store to buy the supplies and got to work. Here're the results and a little DIY guide.

YOU NEED

The one thing you'll definitely need, is the foam base for the wreath. All other materials are of your choice. To decorate, I got an organza ribbon of 500 cm, which was just enough to go around the foam base. I'm a sucker for plastic apples, berries and mushrooms, so I got wild and bought a lot of them. As berries and mushrooms are more Fall appropriate, I bough a plastic Poinsettia plant to add that Christmas flavor.

STEP I

Wrap the ribbon around the foam base. I divided the ribbon in two equal parts and started wrapping in two ways. It would have been better to just secure one end and wrap it all around. I sew the ends together at the back of the base, to secure the ribbon.

STEP II

I cut off some leaves of the Poinsettia to start decorating the wreath.

STEP III

Just start pinning and securing whatever materials you have onto the base. Make sure it doesn't fall off straight away. I used pinning needles to secure the leaves. You can also use glue or a glue gun, but I didn't want to make a mess, so I played it safe.

RESULT

I must say, I'm pretty pleased with the result. It took me a small hour to make it and it's actually pretty easy. So don't be affraid and get your DIY skillzzz used!

Hope you enjoyed this post! Much more DIY stuff coming up in 2013.

The dead will walk

Happy Halloween everybody! What are you up to tonight? Anyone celebrating here?
I'm staying at home. I had my fair share of Halloween fun this weekend. This Friday I'll be going to the show of the famous Glam Rockers (read mockers) Steel Panther, so I'll have another chance to dress up.
In some trashier costume version.

As I told you, we took a walk at the cemetery in the evening. I'm so happy with how the pictures turned out to be. I could do stuff like this every week. Dressing up, yes!
I was something between a vampire or a zombie Lana Del Rey. Whom, I found out today, will be playing in Belgium next year. Hoping I'll be able to go!

Here they're! Must be one of my favorite pictures on the blog so far!

Thanks again to Annebeth for organizing and inviting me to this great party!

Summertime Sadness

What do you do when you're bored? I usually read, draw or DIY stuff.
Today I finally got around to make a flower crown. Because, obviously, every girl deserves a crown.
After I was done I felt inspired or just still was bored and decided to take pictures with it. I used Lana Del Rey as inspiration. I don't think we've got the same look or vibe, but a little tribute wouldn't hurt anyone. I really admire her style and looks. Even though, not natural, she looks beautiful. I'm not an anti-surgery freak, so whatever floats her gorgeous boat. A real fan of her music too, probably listened to her record for 100 times already. Need to get my hands on that vinyl! Hope to get to see her live soon!

Here we go!

I'm content with how the pictures and my crown turned out. Need to get more flowers soon!

Seaside

Yesterday I went to Fotofestival at Knokke. There were several exhibitions across town.
The ones I was interested in were Tim Walker and Cecil Beaton.
Knokke lies by the seaside, so we took some pictures.
The weather was so wonderful and I really needed a break from studying.
What a wonderful day it was!

SunnyVille

This weekend I finally got the chance to enjoy the great weather.
A little bit of sun always cheers me up.
I maybe don't look like a sunny person, but I definitely am one.
*Speaking about shameless self-promotion*

Although it's sunny, I'm still wearing tons of clothes.
Mostly because I used to live in a country with very high temperatures.
Seeing all this people already wearing shorts and t-shirts gets me shiver.

Spotted

For a long time I've been searching for a perfect leopard faux fur coat.
How happy was I to see that H&M sold just what I was looking for!
But, a smart girl that I am, I waited to buy it. Now it's mine, I've got it at the sales at -60% off.
Nothing like a good bargain! I'm so happy with it. I'm a major sucker for leopard print. A perfect dress is still on the search list...
Another addition to my faux fur collection. At this moment I have 10 faux fur coats. I always say: "A girl can't have too many... "
The good thing about this one is that it can be worn in a real classy 50s or 60s way or with a little rock'n'roll twist. I opted for the second version, but in a subtle way, ' cause I had to go to an exam like that.

The scarf is actually DIY. It's really long and really loosely knitted with holes in it.
But you can't see it here, I'll take some better pictures next time.
You already can guess where my inspiration came from.

The Dr. Martens that I wore, are one of my favorite shoes ever. I got this pair last winter.
The zip front and the pointed toe make them a bit different from the rest of Martens collection.

DIY

Made this dress a while ago from a piece of some fabric I had lying around. It's pretty comfy...
Don't mind my silly face in this pictures :)
