The researchers found that the protein "JARID1a" serves as a press button to turn on circadian circuit by forming a complex of genes: the gene CLOCK and BMAL1. This complex of genes which then affects the production of PER - protein expression following 24-hour cycle performance.

The researchers found that production of the PER protein in the human body was low in the morning. Production of low PER is what triggers the start operation of the circadian circuitry. For the body, this sort of alarm to begin to move in the morning.

By examining the human body cells, mice and fruit flies, the researchers found in detail the role JARID1a protein in normal cells and in an active state, such as cycling. It was found that cells that have abnormally low expression JARID1a turned out to make the production of PER proteins fail to reach the top.

PER production that does not reach the peak or low it is an indicator that the circadian circuit is in normal circumstances. In the normal circadian circuit condition, the human body is ready to start their daily activities.

In this research also found that the fruit fly, animals that have low levels of PER often "forget time". This explains why the flies often slept all day and night.
