Yoga has more to do then instilling calmness and tranquility and fighting stress in individuals. Inculcating a habit of regular simple yoga exercises on daily basis can be beneficial to your child’s health in general. Here are a few suggested yogic exercises to improve eyesight,
  • Find a comfortable place for your child to sit. Ensure that the posture is erect with the neck and the back straight. Now ask your child to concentrate on the tip of the nose for about five seconds. Then for the next five seconds ask him to concentrate on a painting or a picture located on a distant wall. Alternate concentration of distant and near objects helps improve eyesight as it strengthens the papillary muscles of the eyes. Ask your child to close his eyes and relax for some time.
  • Ask your child to concentrate on the third eye (i.e. the area just above the nose between the two eyebrows) without blinking. While doing this ensure that both the eyes are raised and directed towards the forehead. At first your child may complain of pain in the head. Ask him to relax and repeat the exercise after some time.
Diet and Yoga techniques help in improving sight and vision and prevent the occurrence of refractory errors like myopia and hypermetropia in children.
